Who am I?
I'm a British and Maltese racing driver from Cambridgeshire and I'm 17. I regularly race karts in Senior X30 at HKRC (in Kimbolton) and have raced since a very young age.
I'm currently attending Sixth Form and am working on my A-Levels, but hope to divert from mainstream studies and work towards a motorsport career in the near future.
My passion for this sport has grown with me and I can still remember to this day the overwhelming feeling of racing for the very first time. Since then, I have raced hundreds of times. My skillset has grown to a very high level, readying my transition into car racing in the future.
I am a member of the YRDA, run by Arden Motorsport and race karts with JDR.
The Young Racing Driver's Academy (YRDA) is a world-class driver program for young racing drivers like myself who show immense talent and potential to truly succeed in a motorsport career. Regarding my situation, the YRDA and I are aiming to have me enter Formula 4 or the British GT in the near future.
At the age of 10, I entered my first race in Comer cadets as a novice. I then progressed into the 2013 season as a cadet once again (finishing 3rd in my first full championship). After this, I entered Junior X30 and then Senior X30.
I've always loved racing, from going to watch Formula 1 at Silverstone multiple times to watching motorsport from around the world from the comfort of my own home.
I was born in May 2002 in Cambridgeshire, half English, half Maltese. Since a young age I have always loved and been fascinated by racing, watching Formula 1 on TV and going to races to see my heroes racing right before my eyes. It made me realise very early on what I wanted to do when I grew up for the rest of my life.
I was 6 years old when I had my first go in a corporate kart and my McLaren Formula 1 race suit really made me look the part. I shocked and impressed everyone, being the fastest Bambino to lap the track that month! The thrill of it all and skill shown made me truly realise the potential which I possessed and from there my true love for racing flourished.
In 2012, my parents bought me my first kart. We decided to enter our first championship and regularly attend meetings so that I could improve. I came 3rd in my first ever championship and worked hard from there on to achieve even better results in the future.
In 2015, I joined the karting team JDR, ran by Jack Dex (a former single seater racing driver) who taught me everything he knew and taught us a lot about how to race and mechanic at the same time. Using his knowledge, expertise and guidance, I mastered my way around the HKRC track and progressed rapidly. From there, we realised that I had a lot of potential and racing became my primary focus.
This was the year that I received the Junior Sportsman of the Year Award for my fantastic conduct on and off of the track, setting me aside from my peers. This heartfelt award boosted my confidence and my determination to become a full-time racing driver one day grew stronger and stronger every time I went out on track.
In January, I was unanimously voted for and consequently received the first ever YRDA Achievement Award from HKRC. I went to Arden's factory and they were amazed by my skill and the potential shown on their state of the art simulator.
Shortly after this, in March, I was recruited by the YRDA and began my journey towards entering Formula 4 or GT racing and the race to find sponsorship begun. I now visit the Arden factory regularly and attend simulator sessions to improve and prepare for Formula 4 (and/or GT) and discuss my situation with the team.
Now my sole purpose is to work my way into Formula 4 or GT and gradually work my way up the ranks. From there on, the possibilities are endless...
